"The Calling of Samuel" by Gustave Doré, created in 1877. It depicts a dramatic and spiritual scene where a young Samuel is sleeping on a bed in a dark, grand interior, possibly a temple or a large room. An angelic figure, representing the divine calling, stands beside him, bathed in a soft, radiant light emanating from above. The angel is depicted with wings and a flowing robe, raising one arm upwards towards the light, emphasizing the celestial message being delivered to Samuel. The overall atmosphere is solemn and mystical, highlighting Doré's mastery in creating ethereal and emotionally charged artworks.
