Size: 12"x8"
Allegorical painting of Humanity facing the horrors of defeat and, more generally, the end of the world. Painted in 1871, following the Franco-German war of 1870 and the Commune of Paris, the work testifies to this dark context. In 1884, the painting was presented with two other canvases "The Black Eagle of Prussia" and "The Defense of Paris".
